Great Lakes is a compact iceberg lettuce with a healthy, attractive medium to large head with bright green leaves. It is a very crisp variety and slow to bolt in hot weather. The crisp heads have the perfect crunch that makes them ideal for garnishing sandwiches or for adding to a crispy, fresh summer salad.

Indoor Sowing: Sow seeds from March in seed trays in the greenhouse or on a windowsill. Harden off before planting out.
Outdoor Sowing: Sow outdoors from mid April in shallow drills, either in containers or in the open ground, thinning seedlings to 30cm apart. Protect from slugs and cover early sowings with a cloche.
